Being an exchange student in Austria
    International finance 2 CHENXIAOHONG

I spent almost one year studying abroad and what a great experience it was! I highly recommend it to anyone of any age.
Studying in Austria for a year was one of the most rewarding and life-altering experiences I had. I took part in an exchange programme as part of my degree. I learnt a great deal about Europe and also about myself and my ability to adapt to another culture and lifestyle.
I met fantastic people of all nationalities, and built up my reserves of self-confidence, and faith in my ability to cope when things got tough. Learning about a culture that opened my eyes to a world that I never knew, yet was in front of my nose all of my life. It was a great experience and I loved it.

    Arrival:
I still remember the day I landed in Austria was 25th, September. My trip was begun with distressed, along with rush and fatigue, and baggage loss and overweight. I arrival at Vienna International Airport around 24 O’clock, although it was not the official time, the school was still very closed in the arrangement for our free picked up. Then enthusiasm and sense of responsibility is the first impression that Austria people gave to me.

    Life in Austria and FH:
The life in Austria is quite leisurely and comfortable. People like to have a picnic or do sunbathing in the park, or chatting with friends in the outdoor coffee bar in the summer .After a day’s work, people choose to meet friends in the pub or club to relax. During the vocation, they prefer to travel abroad. I had to say that Austrian are really enjoy they lives.
I am the exchange student of the University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt (FH) .It was established in 1994 as the first of its kind in Austria. From its inception and by law it was unequivocally positioned in the third level of education in Austria. Its aim was to combine academic studies with a more practically orientated education, which would be specifically suited to the business and technology sectors of today. The University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt currently has about 2500 students, and therefore possesses the largest University of Applied Sciences campus in Austria.
Since some Visa problems, the final time I arrival was already one month later, The official in the FH told me that I should change my original courses because most of them were already began. Thanks to the Project of contacts--Claudia, she helped me to deal with the tough Visa problems, which makes me feel grateful.
My first class was “Introduction of Austria”, it is open for incoming students and aim to introduce guest students some Austria cultures and history, help them to get used to the new life. The University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt currently consists of four faculties, Business, Engineering, Health Studies and Security. Because my major is International Finance, the courses what I choose were all about Business, for Financial Statement and Multinational Finance and Corporate Finance as example.
Each lecture normally lasts 3 hours per week, I had to say that teachers here are really kind enough to the incoming students, you can ask any relative questions in the class without raise your hands or go to the toilet without mention. In one word, they are friendly enough. The atmosphere of class is totally different from that in China. The students in classes are much more activity than that in China. Normally, we prefer the way that teacher teaching in the front of blackboard while students taking note silently. But the Europe classes prefer to more presentations, it’s not only a way to tell teacher how much can a student learn from the lecture but also a way to give student score. Mandatory attendance is required, it always takes 10% of students’ final grade. So do not want to skip class, unless you want to hang the course.
