Life in Germany----Xie Yutong(谢雨桐)
Time flies, I have spent 9 months in Germany and will back to China after 4 days. The reason I choose this kind of exchange project is to experience different life and study in a foreign country when there are few classes in the last year.
My exchange school is FHD, this school will make all the things prepared well when you come, like fresh man pick-up, international breakfast and so on. We will learn German at the first two weeks and then start our formal lessons. In the first two months, nearly every two week, we will have an outside activity on the weekend, we have been to the zoo, go hiking and chocolate museum, and they are all funny which also do well to the friendship of our international students. Sometimes, we will have party or German corner in the northern campus with international students and German students. What I want to mention is that in Germany, there are many festivals, and then, you always have one week holiday to go travel.
I planned all my classes on Monday to Wednesday, and spare my Thursday and Friday to have an internship. Then on weekend, I would like to go to the surrounding cities with my friends, it is so convenient to spend one or two hours with trains, and notice that with your student card, your transportation is free in some areas. After the final exam in the first semester, I spent one month to travel, and I have been to 7 countries and 10 cities, excluding Germany, which is really an impressive and worthy memory to me. For I have not much required scores in the last year, and in the first semester, I have fulfill scores. So in the second semester, I kept my student status in Düsseldorf and move to Frankfurt to start my two-month full-time internship, in where I make new friends and experience a new life. For my point of view, Frankfurt with characteristics of urbanization while Düsseldorf is much more leisure; I am very lucky and grateful to enjoy two different lives within the nine months.
I like the life in Germany, for the people there are all very kindhearted and really willing to help others, and the environment is really good. Maybe in China, it is not usually for you to go the supermarket to buy vegetable and meat to cook, but in Germany, it is often. I have to admit that the types of vegetable are fewer than that in China, but you will get used to it, at least, much better than eat chips and steaks every day.
The advantage of Düsseldorf is the location; it is very easy to travel to France, Prague and Holland. I recommend you to make use of the leisure time to travel, because travel around in European country is much easier and cheaper than in China, treasure your good position is a wise choice.
